Detoxing Alternative health writer Nina L. Diamond examines the process of flushing the body of natural and manmade toxins in Purify Your Body: Natural Remedies for Detoxing from 50 Everyday Situations. Probing such contexts as the workplace or the outdoors and conditions from overindulgence to depression, Diamond probes the damages likely to go along with each and offers both preventive actions (fend off insects with essential oil of peppermint) and natural antidotes (use aloe gel for sunburn). Among the therapies represented are acupressure, aromatherapy, herbs and botanicals and vibrational medicine. An extensive resource list is provided.

Physical purity enthusiasts will want to check out this compendium that strives to be an omnibus of the means and the nuances of self-curing from all manner of physical ills. For Diamond's advice to do any good, however, its user must accept the thesis that maladies as diverse as jet lag and anxiety either cause or enhance chemical toxins in the body and, further, that it is theoretically possible to eliminate those toxins and maintain a purified--or perfect--physical state. If subscribing to those notions is beyond you, all Diamond's counsel may seem nonsense. Sincere practitioners of homeopathy, naturopathy, and other alternative medicines (Ayurveda, aromatherapy, oriental medicines, etc.), however, will find it quite handy, an excellent cross-referenced resource.
