From School Library Journal
Grade 5-8-A book that is serviceable but not particularly engaging. It presents the facts of Confucius's life, but fails to convey a real sense of his times. Quotations are scattered liberally throughout the text, and an endnote explains what is known about Confucius and his writings. The book includes a comparison of Pinyin and Wade-Giles Chinese spellings, which is of little value, and there is no guide to Chinese pronunciation or glossary that includes the corresponding Chinese characters. Small, often dark photos and reproductions appear throughout.
