5.0 out of 5 stars The Mouse Who Ate Bananas, April 21, 2001
By A Customer
I am a children's librarian and I used this book for a preschool storytime--the children loved it. It is a pop-up book with large 2-page spread pop-ups that are totally delightful. The mouse eats bananas and throws the peel over his shoulder. Along come elephant, rhino, lion, and giraff who all slip on the peel. The animals are all drawn in wonderful poses when they slip--they are all drawn in great detail with very animated features. The children loved the drawings, the pop-ups, and the story. This will enchant all preschoolers. A sure hit for storytime and for any child that loves a delightful story.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Delightful Book With a Subtle Message , January 31, 2006
The Mouse Who Ate Bananas is a delightful story about a mouse who sees no reason for cleaning up his messy banana peels after enjoying a tasty banana. All of the animals in the jungle, however have problems dealing with the garbage that the mouse left behind. Mouse learns an important lesson in the end, that will probably make him think twice about not cleaning up his messes in the future!

My kids really like this book. They enjoy listening to me read about the elephant STAMP, STAMP, STAMPING, and the Rhino TROT, TROT, TROTTING (among other great sound affects). The pop-up illustrations add to the fun. I highly recommend this book, not only because it's so much fun to read, but also because it might just help kids understand the importance of cleaning up after themselves.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute, not a huge hit with the toddler though, September 8, 2005
The Long-Nosed Pig and The Wide-Mouthed Frog are my daughter's favorite pop-up books. The Mouse Who Ate Bananas is pretty good, but isn't as entertaining as the other Faulkner pop-ups mentioned above, which are excellent. We still read the Mouse book, but not nearly as much as the other two.
