From Booklist
Air Force Master Sergeant Jason Johnson, author Salazar's battlewise protagonist, is a pararescue jumper--" PJ" in Special Forces lingo--trained and equipped to do almost anything to or for almost anyone anywhere. Unlike the paratroopers of old, today's PJs land in such drop zones as the mountains of Northern Iraq and the decimated villages of Bosnia. Here, Johnson is teamed with an equally tough and dedicated marine, with whom he is to drop behind enemy lines and gather evidence of a particularly horrific new method of ethnic cleansing. While much of what happens is a military procedural strictly for lovers of war tales (or for use as a survivalist training manual), Salazar has given his hero some interesting moments with Muslim terrorist Mustafa and some steamy ones with a beautiful young Muslim woman named Seka. The bottom line is that
Drop Zone is a superior example of current military fiction by an author who clearly knows the territory.
