Even aside from the meat-clever abridgment, which has deleted sections that alter the meaning of Conroy's novel, this reading doesn't do the book justice. O'Keefe, who played Ben Meechum in the 1979 movie, doesn't have the vocal strength or acting ability to bring life to this story. D.A.W.
