Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 6-10 Trisha is enjoying her senior year and planning to attend college in her home state, Indiana, with her longtime boyfriend, Cody. She's especially excited for her best friend, Christina, who's been offered a scholarship to the University of Vermont, which Trisha sees as an opportunity for the teen to get away from her controlling boyfriend, Tucker. Tension mounts when the four attend a basketball game together and Tucker starts a fight with a boy who talks to Christina. On the way home, the two couples have a car accident that leaves Christina dead and Cody in a coma. After the tragedy, the story and the characters become less one-dimensional and syrupy. The question of what caused the accident provides some suspense; along with the quick pace and easy dialogue, the novel will hold the interest of McDaniel's fans. -Rebecca Hogue Wojahn, Riverside Middle School, Watertown, WI

5.0 out of 5 stars A luring read!, July 5, 2002
A Kid's Review
Telling Christina Goodbye is the story of three teens, Trisha, Cody and Tucker, struggling to move on through senior year after their lives are changed one night in a fatal accident leading to the death of their close friend Christina. Tucker Hanson, Christina's demanding boyfriend, was driving the four of them home one night when his car hit a patch of black-ice and over-turned killing Christina, leaving Cody in a coma, injuring Trisha, but barely sratching Tucker. Trisha struggles to remeber the detials of that horrifying night, but can't. Was it really an accident? Will they find the will to move on? Telling Christina Goodbye will keep you keep you turning the page again and again! This is must read!

3.0 out of 5 stars Telling Christina Goodbye, July 15, 2006
Lurlene McDaniel is my favorite author, and I love her work. I was a little disapointed with "Telling Christina Goodbye" though. I don't think that the idea is original, mainly because I didn't really know the charecters well enough to root for them. I didn't think that this book is as good as most of Lurlene's, although you may feel differently. Even though this book isn't one of my favorites, it is still worth reading.

-thanks

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW, April 1, 2006
Telling Christina Goodbye is one of those books that you cry while your reading it. It made me realize just how short life really is. Lurlene has a way of making you ask yourself what kind of life you really want to live. I loved this book and couldn't put it down. Read it it will change your life forever.
