Editorial Reviews

From AudioFile

Although it's humorous, this British production has a dark undercurrent. It's told in the first person by Gary, a young man in his early teens from a middle-class family. His sister, Sharon, marries Magnus Moore, a millionaire movie-maker who is presently building the world's largest theme park. While at the park Gary, his siblings, and a friend discover that Magnus makes "snuff" films, with Sharon about to become the star of his next production. Taylor gives a good performance. While he doesn't differentiate characters, his voice is adroit and he performs the story with clarity and enough variation to keep one's interest. 2.0 out of 5 stars Poor taste for a kid's book, June 14, 2007
The book seems to be intended for young readers and through listening to most of the book, I thought so as well. It starts off rather well but gets too serious and horrific for young readers. In the end the bad guy is found to be making "snuff" films. He has these young kids at his castle and is looking to make movies on killing them until one escapes and gets the police.
