About the Author

"My work has always revolved around the question of what constitutes good teaching," says Shalaway. She's been an editor of an educational research and development magazine, contributing editor and columnist for Instructor magazine, a consultant and freelance writer for numerous educational publications, and a writing instructor. Ms. Shalaway, currently a junior high and high school teacher, resides in West Virginia with her husband, Scott, and daughters, Nora and Emma.
