Product Description

Dr. Mark Katz, a neurotic plastic surgeon who is compulsive obsessive about perfection, but is a good man, finds himself caught in an amazing adventure that cures him. He learns that "chasing perfection is chasing the changing preferences of fools," and that it's our little imperfections that make us individuals.

Mark discovers his genius friend, Bogart Hanson, a Nobel Prize winning scientist, murdered. At Bogey's funeral, Mark is kidnapped and becomes a captive of Cherry Hanson, Bogey's widow, at Hanson's Developmental Advanced Technology (DAT) laboratory. The President of the United States plans to assassinate a drug lord, Ferenzi, and wants to use a Bogart Hansen cutting edge of scientific discovery to accomplish it, instead of risking an invasion.

The plastic surgeon is married to a psychiatrist, Ricia, who sets out to find him. She is captured by Cherry at DAT also. Mark, meanwhile, is sent with the Hanson innovation to kill Ferenzi, which he must do to save his wife. The subplot is about a model, Ali, who Mark has made perfect inadvertently by removing her famous mole. She loses her job but finds love only to fall victim to cocaine. Mark saves her by using another brilliant Bogart Hansen innovation.

5.0 out of 5 stars About a mentally unbalanced plastic surgeon, April 12, 2002
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
Plastic Surgeon by novelist Sylvia Snyder is a compelling science fiction thriller about a mentally unbalanced plastic surgeon, obsessed with "perfection," who is caught up in an incredible escapade that teaches him more about the value of uniqueness and imperfection. A captivating, fantastic read recommended to SciFi buffs, Plastic Surgeon is a truly memorable "what if" style adventure story that could easily become a technologically feasible, medical science based, social issue of the 21st century.

5.0 out of 5 stars So original!!!, January 1, 2002
By A Customer
I'm deep into this book and I had to tear myself away just long enough to recommend it to others. Ms. Snyder is one of the most original writers I have ever seen! Imagine pairing two doctors in marriage - one a plastic surgeon with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and his wife, a Psychiatrist. They have a deal not to work on each other. This story is hilarious, yet...thought provoking, and exciting. The doctors have been swept into a twisting plot, filled with such incredibly inventive Science Fiction devices that you know this book will soon be awarded a Nebula -- I want to be an avian! Congratulations, Ms. Snyder, on your creative talent. To everyone else, READ THIS BOOK!
