Editorial Reviews

Product Description
Ten couples and ten opportunities for a love scene.

In Love Scenes there is a stripping away of the extraneous and the exposure of the essential. Love scenes here become the "tuned down corners" of teh novels we may not have the time to read, yet these are the parts that we want to read the most.

Like all love scenes, some go better than others as shown by the young married couple in Knoxville, 1915. Deeper, more meaningfully. Others show promise, as in Braille, wherein a blind woman shows a sighted man the beauties of darkness. Some love scenes need to be kick-started - sound familiar? - wherein another couple, thieves, are too tired even to love their loot in For the Love of Money. But, there is loving bewilderment as well. There are miles and miles between the lovers in The Quilting Sisters in Minnesota, and An Actor Prepares in New York, but the search for a comforting love scene goes on, whether on a stage or lovingly quilted into a blanket.

There is just enough scaffolding in these love scenes to hold the lovers and their brief idea, with hardly a thought about what might happen afterward. The imperfect search for the perfect love scene.
