Editorial Reviews

Product Description
For funeral director Blair Emerson, tragedy and loss are part of life—professional and personal. A two-year-old child abducted years ago. A marriage that crumbled in the aftermath. And now, a late night phone call that awakens anguished memories and long-buried hopes of holding her child again.

But obstacles, both seen and unseen, stand between Blair and the daughter she feared was dead. The low-life kidnapper's greed. A woman addled by voices. An old man made vicious by a stroke. And when a wave of events plunge Blair into a police investigation, she finds herself a suspect in a crime that is hauntingly familiar.

Driven by hope and longing, Blair risks everything to recover her child. But when she becomes the target of a deranged man's revenge, her hope is snatched away. Now Blair must face the unimaginable—that her daughter is gone again, and that this time it could be forever.

5.0 out of 5 stars A bit of a soap opera, but a real page-turner.., July 12, 2009
There's lots happening in this fast-paced mystery. It is an absorbing read with engaging characters who think and act like real people. Linda Amey knows how to create characters you care about and keeps the tension level high. I can't wait to read the next in the series.
