Editorial Reviews

Product Description
“In every city, everywhere, men and women, young and not so young, hang out in bars and clubs, troll the internet, join singles groups, hoping to meet that special someone who will transform their lives.”

That Ridiculous Blue Sky tells of Marsha, Helen, and Janet, three very different women, who meet at a promotional event for “Magdalena, the Mediterranean Matchmaker”. Their lives are transformed—but not as they could possibly have foreseen!

Acclaim for Monica Morris’s Falling in Love Again: The Mature Woman’s Guide to Finding Romantic Fulfillment. (Square One Publishers. New York):

“…Morris, thrust into the dating scene after being widowed, speaks to intimidated readers as a knowledgeable older sister, using her own experience and case studies to encourage love-seeking again…”
Library Journal

“I highly recommend Dr. Morris’ book…as a valuable and helpful guide for women seeking personal fulfillment and companionship…I appreciate the author’s careful assessment of the labyrinth awaiting those re-entering the uncertain world of dating…”
—Janice Smithers, PhD

4.0 out of 5 stars Bob Medak, Allbooks Reviews, July 11, 2006
"Dame get up and bake your pies, bake your pies, bake your pies, bake your pies..." Marsha belted out the words of the old song as she gathered the ingredients for a cinnamon-fruit cake onto the kitchen counter. Who amongst us hasn't sung or hummed while working in the kitchen?
I wanted to know where we were going from this.

Monica weaves a wonderful tale of the characters, Marsha, Helen, their friends and acquaintances and the interaction. We must also not forget the Mediterranean Matchmaker. Is this a tale of just women looking for a mate? Not really. There is much more to this story. You'll have to read it to learn what happens.

I found the writing style an easy and enjoyable to read. She creates some wonderfully plausible, lovable, fully fleshed out group of women. The dialogue and descriptions as equally well written. I would love to meet the real life Marsha and Helen; they are two fun women to be around. I feel the progression of the story is well delivered.

Born in London, England, as a young wife with three children, Monica moved to California. She holds a degree is sociology and was a university professor for many years. To be able to write full time (several non-fiction works), she left the university. That Ridiculous Blue Sky is Monica's first novel.

I found this first novel by Monica well written and fun to read. I loved the almost quirky characters and their interactions with one another throughout the story. I found myself wanting to know more about these wonderful ladies. It would be fun to spend some time with them. I got the opportunity in this book. They are some characters I think I could call friend. If you are looking for a great read, this is it. I would recommend this novel for all to read and enjoy.
