Product Description

Marin’s village is being held for ransom. Only a dragon’s gold can prevent them from being destroyed. Marin is just a young boy, but he is the only one with the courage to save his family and their village. Armed with his wit and a dose of courage, Marin makes the trip up the mountain and into the dragon’s lair.

Facing his fears, Marin devises a plan to trade with the mighty beast. The dragon is not amused but listens to the boy’s request for help. With an offer that the dragon cannot refuse, Marin saves his village and comes to understand that fair trade with a dragon can be very profitable.

5.0 out of 5 stars A delightful read and highly recommended, December 9, 2006
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
Marin is a young man whose village is being held for ransom and only a dragon's fabled gold can prvent the village from being destroyed. When he ventures up into the mountain to the dragon's lair, he is confronted by the fearsome beast. Marin offers to make a trade - the gold for something the dragon simply cannot refuse. Written and illustrated for middle grade school readers, "Marin And The Dragon's Golden Treasure" is an original and engaging story that carries the implicit message about the importance of ethics and fair trade, courage and family values. Of special note is the section on dragon lore and the dragon mythology of many diverse cultures. "Marin And The Dragon's Golden Treasure" is a delightful read and highly recommended for both school and community library fiction and fantasy collections for young readers.

5.0 out of 5 stars an enchanting tale of dragon lore, September 25, 2006
By BookReview.com (Madison, WI United States) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)
"Come to pass the time in the light of a dragon's eye." E.W. Bonadio's book, "Marin and the Dragon's Golden Treasure," is told in classic style.

When a greedy general with a fierce army hears of a dragon's treasure, he decides to hold a village ransom for the gold he desires. The village of Vale will be destroyed in three day's time unless the rumored gold is presented, and the villagers sold into slavery. A young boy named Marin trusts the stories his father had told him, and sets out to the dragon's lair. In years past, the dragon, Dax, had a pact with the king to protect the villages in exchange for a yearly trade of gold. This pact had been forgotten and the dragon hadn't received any new treasure in quite some time. Young Marin made his way to beg the dragon for a few pieces of gold, enough to pay the ransom to the general. Dax has another plan in mind. Will he help the villagers once again? Is Marin too trusting of the stories from the past?

This short story is an enchanting tale of dragon lore, honesty and integrity. Bonadio offers insight into the world of dragons, first through the story and then with more details of the history of dragons. Fast paced and fascinating, children will love this book about Dax and Marin and just may learn a lesson about trading with dragons.
