Editorial Reviews

Product Description

An international team of authorities has contributed to this volume on the general biology of this group of flagellated protists. Comprehensive in coverage, the book includes subjects of special interest and many topics which have either never, or not recently, been reviewed. Although the emphasis is on living forms there is an extensive review of the main features of the fossil record, linked by a chapter on cyst formation. The book should undoubtedly become the definitive reference source on this fascinating group of algae

5.0 out of 5 stars Introduction to the world of dinoflagellates, April 18, 2001
By A Customer
Dinoflagellates are with few exceptions unicellular organisms found in marine and freshwater environments, and this book describes all major parts of the biology and ecology of dinoflagellates in both environments. Each chapter are written by some of the best people within the different fields that the book deal with, and there is an extensive review of literature about dinoflagellates. So in short this an extensive introduction to the vast field of dinoflagellate biology and a great reference book for dinoflagellate literature.
