Editorial Reviews

Review

"Any marathoner, from a beginner to a veteran, will be inspired by MARATHON. It's the perfect motivation for that weekend long run...or any run, in fact." -- Amby Burfoot, 1968 Boston Marathon Champ, Editor, Runner's World magazine --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Product Description

"The idea behind these tapes first emerged somewhere near the five-mile mark of my first-ever marathon. At that point, I first heard the heretofore-indescribable sound of 40,000 feet crunching 20,000 Styrofoam cups. I heard it maybe half a mile before I found out what it actually was - a marathon water station! There is no sound in the world quite like it.

Many years later, I finally wired myself to run and record the numerous sounds of the New York City Marathon. I ran the full race wearing two special earplug microphones and carrying a tiny stereo tape recorder. The recording that resulted serves as the background bed sound-bed for "Marathon: Going the Distance". In the foreground you'll here from some of the foremost marathon runners of our time." Paul Kennedy - Toronto

Produced at the state of the art recording studios of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation with sound effects.

Featuring: Alberto Salazar, Grete Waitz, Bill Rodgers, Joan Benoit-Samuelson, Frank Sharter, and Katherine Switzer

Approximate Duration 2 Hours
