Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly
When actress Jane Seymour and her husband, director-producer James Keach, found out they were having twins, they knew they were doubly blessed, but Seymour's previous pregnancies had not prepared her for being pregnant with twins, and she wants to share her experience and advice with other women. Two at a Time: Having Twins The Journey Through Pregnancy and Birth, which Seymour wrote with Pamela Patrick Novotny (The Joy of Twins) and which features a foreword by her obstetrician, Sheryl Ross, is a lovely, informative and affectionate look at what to expect each trimester, birthing options and the subsequent challenge of managing the needs of two babies. 16-page b&w photo insert.

From Library Journal
"One baby is a miracle. To be given two at once is a gift beyond words," writes Seymour, already a successful children's author, in the introduction to her debut child-rearing book. The star of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman here gives a personal account of having twins at age 45. Best described as a diary of her pregnancy interwoven with advice and information on tests, ultrasounds, amniocentesis, exercise, and general dos and don'ts, this is not the story of an average mother's pregnancy (the star could afford special care, clothing, grooming, etc.). Yet her voice is compelling and reaches out to comfort and assist anyone expecting twins. Also, Seymour and coauthor Novotny's counsel is sound, with clear insets that answer leading concerns. (Novotny authored the library standby The Joy of Twins, written in a similar style.) A good choice for public libraries, given the popularity of the author and the paucity of useful books on twins. 2.0 out of 5 stars Ego Mania, April 15, 2001
By Mistie Fowlks "fowlks2" (Midvale, Utah United States) - See all my reviews
If your looking for a book to help you cope with being pregnant with twins, buy a different book. This book didn't give any advice for the common expecting mother. She goes on about how she couldn't sleep so she had a special chair made for her, her clothes didn't fit so she had them specially made for her. She brags about all the gifts she got for the babies, all the help she had once they were born, and how she lost all her weight weeks after delivery. This isn't a book for reality minded mothers-to-be. The only good part were the co-author's little comments (her doctor) they were the only factual, informative part of the book, unfortunately, her doctor didn't write enough to make it worth the money.

1.0 out of 5 stars She needs a clue, October 30, 2001

Jane Seymour will never really know what it is like to raise twins, and therefore can't offer any practical advice. Get a full time nurse?? Get real.

1.0 out of 5 stars Useless (except as a psychological document), September 4, 2001
By A Customer
This woman lives in cloud cuckoo land. Her advice has absolutely no bearing on most people's everyday reality, and she comes across as a rich, spoilt, pampered woman who has no idea how ordinary people live. This book offers much insight into its author, but very little practical advice for real people. By all means purchase the book if you're sufficiently wealthy and morbidly self-obseesed.
