Product Description

A class one medical emergency summons the EnterpriseTM to the Federation outpost Tanis. There, a grisly surprise awaits them. Two of the lab's three researchers are dead, their bodies almost entirely drained of blood. There are no clues, no records of their research, no remnants of their work. There is only the outpost's sole survivor, Dr. Jeffrey Adams, who holds the secret of what happened at Tanis, and might now happen aboard the Enterprise.

3.0 out of 5 stars Vampires and Star Trek., June 21, 1998
By A Customer
One of the rarer Star Trek novels, Bloodthirst was one of the first of many Star Trek novels and novelizations to be done by J.M. Dillard

A little on the dark side for a Star Trek novel, but then we discovered that Dillard writes Star Trek novels around darker plots.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, May 25, 2009
One of the better Star Dreck novels. You can figure out what it's about by looking at the cover, but it also involves a criminal conspiracy within Starfleet that kills an old friend of Kirk's. Also, a regular member of the classic crew apparently dies. It might be J.M. Dillard's best Star Dreck novel.

4.0 out of 5 stars Vampire zombies prowling the Enterprise, April 17, 2008
By Jeanne Tassotto (Trapped in the Midwest) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
Responding to a distress call to an isolated research facility the Enterprise crew stumbles upon a horrifying discovery - vampires are real. Unfortunately they discovered this only after some of the Enterprise crew had been attacked. While McCoy frantically searches for a cure Kirk begins his own investigations into the origins of the problem, an investigation that will lead into the very highest levels of Star Fleet.

Overall and despite it's rather unlikely theme BLOODTHIRST is one of the better enteries in this long-running tie-in series. The plot has enough twists to keep the reader guessing, even though it is a foregone conclusion that all the regular Enterprise crew will survive, and that McCoy and Kirk will be successful. The only flaws are an exchange between Sulu and Chekhov that portrays them as sophomoric idiots rather than superior junior officers on an elite ship, and tendancy to drag a bit towards the end. Dillard has introduced some interesting original characters and managed to strike a good balance between time spent developing them without ignoring the original crew.

A very fine job of combining the concepts of Star Trek and vampire fiction; this is a very well-written book, and was a very compelling read. Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Not that great
I love reading vampire books and star trek book. When I heard that there was a vampire/star trek novel, I had to find it. This has to be one of my least favorite Trek books. Read more
