Editorial Reviews
From Publishers Weekly
Rule expertly portrays a millionaire computer genius who masterminded the murder of his wife by his 14-year-old daughter, and later, from his prison cell, unsuccessfully plotted three more killings. More than 100,000 hardcovers were sold of this title, which was a Literary Guild alternate in cloth. Photos. Author tour.

From Library Journal
Best-selling true crime author Rule ( Small Sacrifices , NAL, 1987) tells the story of computer businessman David Brown, a "complete sociopath" who manipulated his 14-year-old daughter, Cinnamon, into murdering his 23-year-old wife in Orange County, California in 1985. Brown collected some $800,000 in insurance money and married his wife's 17-year-old sister while Cinnamon went to the reformatory. Despite her "confession," prosecuting investigator Jay Newell felt uneasy about Cinnamon's alleged vague and trivial motives. He continued to pursue the case and in 1990 Brown was convicted of masterminding his wife's murder. This lengthy account is generally engrossing, and it is recommended for public libraries.

Hi Everyone!

I was amazed to find so many thoughtful and interesting responses from my readers to Amazon's new program that allows authors to connect with our readers--and vice versa!

This has been kind of a hard winter. I've had pneumonia for five weeks, AND a tight book deadline for NO REGRETS, Ann Rule's True Crime Files #11 which will be on sale in November. I've just finished the book, and finally stopped coughing. I've heard that a lot of people have either had pneumonia or a very tenacious flu this winter,so many of you may be able to identify.

I will get my Plog updates on here as often as I can. I also have a website of my own. It's www.annrules.com . It has many sections including: my weblog that I try to add to every other day or so; a photo gallery; a guestbook where you can post and get in touch with other readers (We've had 300,000 hits there in a year, and a wonderful bunch of people have gotten to know each other); the answers to Frequently Asked Questions; a complete list of my books (As you find here, of course); my biography; a newsletter; and several other sections. You are welcome both here and there!

I was going to be in Georgia by now attending the trials of Dr. Bart Corbin, a dentist from Gwinnett County who has been charged with the murders of his wife, Jenn, (In December, 2005) and his ex-fiancee Dolly Hearn (In Augusta 24 years ago.) The trials has been delayed until September, so I'll be home in Seattle all summer. That book TOO LATE TO SAY GOODBYE has been postponed until February, 2007, because of the trial delays.
