Review

Earl Mindell, R.Ph., Ph.D. author of Earl Mindell's Herb Bible The definitive guide to alternative therapies. I highly recommend this book as a must read. -- Review

Product Description

Alternatives in Cancer Therapy offers help for all patients coping with cancer. The therapies discussed in this book are primarily non-toxic, have few, if any, side effects, and tend to strengthen the immune system. They can be used as supplemental regimens that help maximize the effectiveness of traditional therapies such as surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. Patients have a right to know all of their treatment options, and Dr. Ross Pelton presents dozens of choices, including:

* Shark Cartilage
* Gerson Therapy
* Mistletoe
* Isoprinosine
* Laetrile
* Selenium
* Beta-Carotene
* Hydrogen Peroxide
* Vitamins C and E
* The Hoxsey Treatment

Non-traditional therapies can enhance the quality of life, and improve overall health while treating the disease. Alternatives in Cancer Therapy provides information on the research, efficacy, potential side effects, and availability of each treatment.

1.0 out of 5 stars A too-balanced review, September 21, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Alternatives in Cancer Therapy: The Complete Guide to Alternative Treatments (Paperback)
Compared to other books like David Bognar's "Cancer: Increasing Your Odds for Survival" and Michael Lerner's classic and profound "Choices in Healing," this book is weak indeed. It is nothing more than a laundry list of a variety of alternative therapies, all presented with a dry and straight-faced summarization. Had I not read other and better books on the same subject, I would have walked away from this volume certainly no wiser and probably more confused about non-traditional cancer treatments. A real disappointment to me as a recovering cancer patient trying to avoid recurrence. If you are looking for the definitive work on the subject, put your money elsewhere.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent no nonsense appraisel, January 3, 2000
By F. Mort "Fred" (New Zealand) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Alternatives in Cancer Therapy: The Complete Guide to Alternative Treatments (Paperback)
This book surprised me as I was expecting an anti-traditional therapy tirade. Instead I found a well balanced up to date summary of alternative therapies with excellent reference material and a writing style that reflected the authors compassion.I feel this book should be read by everyone not just cancer patients as the list of preventative measures available will prolong a lot of lives.The authors frequently stress the importance of using suggested therapies as an assistance to traditional therapies not as an alternative.I feel the knowledge I have gained from reading this book will prolong my own life as well as others I will share the information with.I long for the day when the public will rise en-masse and take responsibility for their own lives. Easy to find summaries.A valuable Reference Work.

2.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, but outdated, January 24, 2001
By Kenneth J Prag (Stockton, Ca United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Alternatives in Cancer Therapy: The Complete Guide to Alternative Treatments (Paperback)
Cancer therapy is a rapidly moving target. New alternatives are introduced each day. This book written in 1994 has very little of the newer alternatives. I found it to be of little use in finding some new alternative.
