About the Author

Mark Schmidt is a software engineer at Hewlett-Packard. His current research is in the area of advanced custom user interfaces. Part of this work was the topic of a talk he gave at the 2001 VSLive! Conference in San Francisco. Mark has written articles on C# for Visual Studio Magazine and VBPJ. Mark also co-authored Sams Teach Yourself Visual C++ .NET in 24 Hours. At HP, Mark has used C# in many areas from quick UI prototypes to fully functional ASP.NET enabled Web Servers. His breadth of knowledge is the result of a constant search for information that leads him down several different technology avenues.

The collabortive effort of C# experts Mark Schmidt and Simon Robinson, Microsoft Visual C# .NET 2003 Developer's Cookbook (0672325802, $49.99 , 816 pages, Intermediate Level) takes a new and impressively unique approach to stand out among the numerous .NET programming titles available today as being especially "user friendly". The format is well suited for developers that already understand the basics of .NET programming and want a practical reference for various programming tasks.

This book reminds me of teaching a child to walk, to run, to ride a bike, drive a car, and then operate a tank. The text is easy to follow, and there is lots of great reinforcement with examples. MSVC# .NET is a powerful language, and this book helps you make use of everything it has to offer. It's a book that everyone can learn from and use as a reference; from the inexperienced software developer to the experienced software developer.
