Product Description
The words you use say a lot about you. Your grammar makes a lasting impression on friends, co-workers, and teachers, but learning the rules has always been boring. That's why the folks at The Princeton Review created Grammar Smart.

Grammar Smart uses a witty, irreverent approach to help you write and speak with greater clarity and confidence. Grammar Smart doesn't force you to memorize dozens of confusing grammatical terms. Instead, it shows you the logic behind each correct sentence. YOu'll learn how to choose between "that" and "which" and when to use "as" instead of "like," and you'll know for sure if this is between "you and me" or "you and I."

Grammar Smart includes"
*the basic parts of speech-nouns, verbs, adjectives, etc.
*pronoun-verb agreement, parallel construction
*tips on how to avoid misplaced modifiers, dangling participles
*lively, humorous examples and stories to illustrate meanings
*brief, interactive question-and-answer reviews

Don't worry-you won't end up sounding like an eighteenth-century nobleman. Everything in Grammar Smart is nuts-and-bolts English designed to help you express yourself more clearly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent grammar review for studying for the GMAT, October 30, 1998
By A Customer
After trying to study for the qualitative half of the GMAT, I found that tips in the traditional GMAT study manuals were insufficient. I found Grammar Smart to be a thorough, yet concise, book that does not waste too much time on basics. It is very useful in teaching you how to avoid mistakes such as misplaced modifiers, parallel construction, and proper word selection. Grammar Smart uses short and fun examples to make its point and has many quizes in it to test your grasp of what you have just read. The book will only take a few hours to get through and provides a quick and easy reference source if you ever encounter grammatical dilemmas.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good concept, but missed the target., October 13, 2002
By A Customer
Grammar is boring, frustrating, and complex. At least, that's the impression I got from taking it in school. This book attempts to take a fun (well, not-so-boring) approach to explain it all... And for the most part it does well. It's concise, and the examples are good. Where things fall apart is when the book refers to parts of grammar that haven't been explained yet. For example, starting with Quick Quiz #8 (page 25), the reader is asked to identify prepositional phrases, but phrases and clauses aren't covered until page 59. Naturally, you'll miss a lot of the questions. The answers to the quizzes seldom have explanations. If an answer seems to contradict a grammar rule or just not make sense, you're left hanging. Discouraging? You bet. If you were confused by grammar in school, this book may help -- but don't expect it to answer all your questions or eliminate frustration with the topic.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent resource for adults and teens alike..., June 11, 2000
When I was in college, I had a roomate who was constantly correcting my grammar. The habit wore off on me, and while mine is not perfect, I do like to think it's good. I bought this book to answer several nagging questions I had about a few things, and was very impressed.

The format is laid out well. The lessons are simple and easy to follow, while conveying information thoroughly. This book can be used by adults as well as teens in high school to great effect. And like, it's never a bad thing to tawk gud, ya know?
