5.0 out of 5 stars Better than Goosebumps, December 3, 1997
By A Customer
Magic Tree House #4, Pirates past noon, is the best. I love the cover. I like Jack and Annie. They are sort of funny. I read the whole book in one day. I am five years old and my name is Nate.

3.0 out of 5 stars A Fun Adventure in a Weak Series, September 15, 2005
By Caballero del febo (Antony, France) - See all my reviews
Kids in the 5-7 range will probably love this series with its dependable repetition of formulas that my kids loved to say out with me when we got to the best part of the book: "The wind blew harder ... The treehouse started to spin ... faster and faster ... then everything was still. Absolutely still." The loyalty and friendship which bond brother Jack and sister Annie are also a refreshing break from sibling squabbles.

On the other hand, it's discouraging to watch the heroes of these books visit far-off times and places and learn virtually nothing about the places they go to, because the author is so ignorant about science, history and the English language (gravity varies depending on whether you're in a building or not; "thou" is a plural pronoun; etc.). If you want your kids to learn anything from their readings, you'll have to delve a little deeper into the mass of children's literature than this trivial series.

In this episode, Jack and Annie meet some colorful pirates.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a really exciting book!!!, February 21, 1999

This book is my favorite in the series so far. My favorite part is when Jack got caught. I finished the book in a day and a half since it was so good!
