Product Description

Imus is back -- by popular demand -- with the Second Greatest Story Ever Told, the hilarious novel about the most outrageous TV evangelist of them all -- Billy Sol Hargus.

"God had two sons. Jesus was His first, and I, Billy Sol Hargus, am His second." Thus begins Don Imus's riotously funny story about the life and times of the lecherous, corrupt, hustling, huckstering television evangelist who claims to have a 2,000 year old brother named Jesus. From his backwoods Texas country-preacher roots, Billy Sol rose to dazzle the nation as a Superstar Minister -- preaching at sold-out stadiums and traveling across the country.

Reverend Billy raked in the dough, the fame, and the women. And then it happened -- just like Amelia Earhart and Jimmy Hoffa, Billy Sol vanished one day into legend, disappearing from the face of the earth. But unlike anyone else in the Family, Billy kept a diary -- and now his tapes, believed lost, can finally be heard. Praise the Lord! --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

4.0 out of 5 stars Profane and funny, December 12, 2000
By J. Carroll "Jack" (Island Heights,NJ) - See all my reviews

This book is definitely not for people who are easily offended. Imus's scathing commentary on evangelists is not for the faint of heart. Sexual mores and religous beliefs are all fair game in this outrageous look at "God's Other Son" Billy Sol Hargus and his trials and tribulations. This book will either make you laugh out loud or shake with anger depending on where your beliefs lie. I chose to laugh.

5.0 out of 5 stars Imus radio program come out on audio book, June 25, 1999
By Matthew Duffy (Superior, Wisconsin) - See all my reviews
This review is from: God's Other Son (Audio Cassette)
When I got this audiobook I was prepared to listen to Don Imus just read the book to me, but I was pleasanly suprised. Imus uses things that make the bits on his radio program great in the audiobook. If you are a fan of the I-man and you are looking for a good time and a quick way to kill 2 hours I suggest this audiobook. CAN I GET AN AMEN?!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the funniest, warped and delightfully offensive books, June 3, 1998
By Matthew E.Torrey (wadmalaw island, sc USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: God's Other Son (Audio Cassette)
As a long-time listener of Mr. Imus, I was delighted to read his book, but I truly did not expect it to be great. However, Mr. Imus's eye for detail and style makes his characters come alive. They may be twisted and bizarre, but I felt as if I was right beside them. The dialog is razor sharp at times and the humor had me laughing so hard, I annoyed my neighbors! Mr. Imus's sense of humor is not for everyone and to some, he will be a bit too racy and offensive. For me, that was part of the charm of this book. I needed a wonderful, light read that left me sore from laughing.
