From School Library Journal
Grade 2-4?From fighting off snakes in his cradle to slaying the nine-headed Hydra, Hercules is shown to be a valiant warrior. Readers are briefly introduced to Greek mythology as the struggle between the hero and jealous Hera unfolds. In 11 short chapters illustrated with line drawings, Hercules performs his tasks, gets married, and is immortalized among the stars. Although the book does not delve deeply into all 12 labors, it is a serviceable undertaking for early and reluctant readers. A brief explanation of constellations named for Greek myths is included. With the interest sure to be generated by Disney's summer release of a film of the same title, this edition will fill some of those requests.?Angela J.
