From School Library Journal
Grade 2-4-From personalized backpacks, walking to school, locker combinations, spelling bees, and passing notes to the joy of returning home, the elementary-school experience is encapsulated in this book. Although the format is appealing, with cutouts and lift-the-flap cartoons perfect for "knock-knock" replies, the jokes within may occasionally be lost on readers. True to tradition, the authors frequently rely on proper names to complete jokes, but the customary pronunciation sometimes requires a bit of alteration for effectiveness ("Knock-knock! Who's there? Fido! Fido who? Fido we have to stay home?"). However, this short little book may find an audience among older reluctant readers. Not an essential purchase, but enjoyable enough for those who want a fast read or a quick laugh.
