Amazon.com Review
It's not the contents of this traditional compilation of modern poetry that most excites the imagination. At a glance it looks like a list of the usual suspects: Eliot, Yeats, Auden, Thomas, Cummings, Frost, and Pound, among expected others. It's more the special prospect of hearing these classics of the genre read by the various authors themselves that most stirs the heart. After all, it's one thing to marvel at the brilliant language and creativity of these literary giants and quite another to share the passionate imagery of their masterworks as recited in their own singular voices. Some of the recordings show their age in degraded audio quality, but the overall experience is remarkably satisfying. Unfortunately, the product packaging is less than inspired and would have benefited greatly from the inclusion of historical notes. (Running time: 1.5 hours, 2 cassettes) --George Laney
