A great value and handy resource for any home bookshelf.

Gives novice DIYers confidence to fix practically anything.

About the Author
Before her four-years-and-running role helping the Trading Spaces designers pull off 48-hour makeover miracles, Amy Wynn Pastor traveled with a Broadway production constructing sets and props. Her fans know her as the sassy, confident carpenter—and often the voice of reason—on TLC’s top-rated decorating show. She has a good deal of experience to share in her new book for reluctant do-it-yourselfers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Yes You Can, March 16, 2006

I found the book to be very informative. I have seen the author, Amy, on Trading Spaces many times and found her to be a very able and creative carpenter and all around handy person. I grew to respect her ability and it was that fact that made me buy the book when I saw it. I'm very glad that I did.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yes, anyone can...even guys., January 11, 2007
By J. S. (Houston, TX USA) - See all my reviews
I bought this book at the same time I bought "Chix can Fix" by Norma Vally. Both these books are great for beginners, especially when used in combination. It was really a big help when I moved out of my apartment and then moved into a new one. I often helped my dad with home improvement and repair projects but I didn't learn much from that. This book provides a really solid foundation and good recommendations for starting your tool collection.

You definitely can see Amy Wynn's background as a carpenter since many of her projects are building things with wood. I'd say that some of the projects are intermediate tasks and weekend long projects rather than quick fixes. She also provides a wealth of tips and insights. It's also more formal than Norma's book in its writing style, which would appeal to a broader base of readers.
