Using the concept of the core executive, this study uses empirical analyses to critically examine the role of the executive, legislature, judiciary, the public sector, the military and the governing party in managing the Singporean state, the wealthiest nation per capita in the world. This book is the first substantial empirical study of governance in Singapore since the 1970s and focuses on contemporary Singapore 1990-1998.
