Editorial Reviews

Product Description

Two of the world’s most experienced embroiderers show how to make a variety of beads for hand and machine embroidery. Emphasizing how beads add color, texture and beauty to a piece of work, they guide the reader through a variety of traditional and contemporary techniques, including bead weaving; sewing “trapped” beads; stitching beads onto mesh and canvas; and adding them to fringes, edges, cords, chains, and tassels.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bead Embroidery, October 1, 2001
By Marcia Acker-Missall (Boca Raton, Florida United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bead Embroidery (Hardcover)
The projects chosen to provide visual examples of various techniques featured in this bookare are of high quality work. They stimulate the imagination and get you ready to vreate your own work. The step by step directions given to achieve learning and making many of the techniques in this book are clearly written and well supported with photogrpahs of each piece of embroidery.

2.0 out of 5 stars Modern Art, February 18, 2008
This book is very much geared towards modern art. While the materials listing is comprehensive (i.e. defining the materials that you might use to embroider), and the how-to diagrams seem to be good (I already knew how to embroider, so I didn't need help there), this book is completely geared to modern-art creations. Which didn't help me at all, seeing how I do medieval bead embroidery. I think there was one picture of a Victorian embroidery and that was it.

Also, it didn't have patterns to follow. It's pretty much nothing more than a modern-art idea book.
