Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal
PreSchool-Grade 2--From "The Apple Blossom Fairies" to "The Zinnia Fairy," this collection based on the poems of Cicely Mary Barker includes a fairy song for each letter of the alphabet, with the exception of the letters "u" and "x." Featuring such traditional instruments as the mandola, Celtic harp, zither, and recorder, the gentle music, reminiscent of the Renaissance, perfectly captures the beauty of the life of the fairies. Beautifully sung by children and adults, the words of Barker's poems are expertly woven into the music. The liner notes contain the lyrics from each song and several of Barker's illustrations from her book of the same title. An excellent addition to collections for young children.--Veronica Schwartz. 5.0 out of 5 stars A Flower Fairy Alphabet, April 23, 2000
By Linda (Texas) - See all my reviews
Cicely Mary Barker's art is so perfect it's sure to win the hearts of both the young and young-at-heart. Her dear poems bring the fairies to life. It gives a fairy-life view of the alphabet through precious drawings and poems from the brilliant hand and mind of a true believer! Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Enchanting, April 20, 2007
My twin girls are now 4 1/2 years old and adore this book and its companion CD. One of them falls asleep to the music every night. They know all the words to each song (they are even beginning to understand the words they are singing, which has enhanced their vocabulary in beautiful ways. I highly recommmend this book and CD!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Small...., May 14, 2007

This book is beautiful! My only complaint is that it is tiny! The book is approx. the size of a 3 1/2 x 5 picture. I had just hoped that it would be larger. That is definitely something that I wish was included in the description. Other than that............GEORGEOUS!!!!!!!!
