But when the body of local resident Zill Corson is discovered in the smoking ruins, tied up and cut with a machete, Marty knows this is murder. A few days later, New Yorker Liv Mann comes to town after learning about Corson's death on the news. She's puzzled by the similarities between his death and the death of her father, which also involved fire and a machete. The case also involves an international security company, the death of a nun, and an engineering project in Ecuador.
