From Booklist
Detective Marty Hopkins is back in a high-spirited adventure set in southern Indiana. The contrast between homey Hoosier hospitality and the lurking danger of Marty's current case makes for a satisfying read. When Marty is called to the scene of a fire at a remote hunting lodge, she figures some careless shooter left the camp stove on. But when the body of local resident Zill Corson is discovered in the smoking ruins, tied up and cut with a machete, Marty knows this is murder. A few days later, New Yorker Liv Mann comes to town after learning about Corson's death on the news. She's puzzled by the similarities between his death and the death of her father, which also involved fire and a machete. The case also involves an international security company, the death of a nun, and an engineering project in Ecuador. Putting her own life at risk to solve the mystery, Marty uses her keen intelligence and hard-jawed tenacity to unearth the sad and shocking truth. A fine addition to this engaging series.
