4.0 out of 5 stars A BEGINNER-FRIENDLY PATHWAY TO WINDOWS XP, February 12, 2003
By reviewer (Zurich, Switzerland.) - See all my reviews
"Faster Smarter Microsoft Windows XP" provides one of the easiest pathways through which an 'XP' beginner could quickly metamorphose into a knowledgeable user.
This book is loaded with well-tailored information, which were designed to encourage novices acquire remarkable skills in no time. It is direct and very easy-to-follow; and allows its reader to progress at his or her own pace. It even contain elaborate information on how to configure various Windows tools.
There is hardly any beginner who would not appreciate the style and methods of this book. Its introductory outlook is cute. Indeed, I agree that it is a fast and smart way to start. But, if you are not a beginner, there is little wisdom in investing on it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Basic Training, November 26, 2008
By J. Kennedy "JFK" (New York, NY) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Ed Bott provides a clear and concise easy-to-read snapshot of Windows XP. The book is geared toward more of an advanced user. But it is not; it is completely a beginners manual. If you own Windows XP Inside and Out you do not need to spend money on this book. I am a strict critic when it comes to reviews so sorry Ed this only gets three stars though this review might be a little late. Some of the content material (I say some) I could not understand why it was located near the beginning of the book. I won't belabor that point but there was one point in the book, and because I am a techie, I cannot help but notice the language concerning a simple driver was poorly laid out. I do recommend this book, however, it is a basic and beginners book. If you have a good grasp of the Windows desktop you don't need this book. There is nothing technical in it. It's an easy read.
