I attended Ohio U. so I was only in Athens from 1987-1992 but I always longed to know more about the town that I grew to love in that time. This book offered a great historical perspective on the development and heyday of Athens, even if only through brief photo captions. I don't have the attention span to make it through long books, so this was perfect for me! The only thing that would have made it better would have been a photo comparison between then and now ... but that is not the intention of the Images of America series (and would instead make a great volume on its own).

If you ever went to Ohio University or grew up in Athens, then you'll love this walk down memory lane. I was a little disappointed that there was not more of a historical narrative, but the photographs are all labeled in great detail and really offer a nice picture of the history of this town.
