Product Description

Are you ready to change your life? Join Sarah, The Duchess of York on an inspiring journey to help you rediscover -- and achieve -- your true goals.

Today, The Duchess of York is a confident, single working mother of two girls. But, as most of the world knows, that wasn't always the case. Once targeted by the international press, The Duchess has learned one of life's great lessons: how to uncover what you want out of life and get it. She reveals how the ups and downs of her life -- including her divorce, her financial problems, and the deaths of those close to her -- have made her a stronger, wiser person and a better mother.

In the first chapter, "Transforming My Life," The Duchess explores how, when and why she decided to take charge and reinvent her life. In the chapters that follow, readers will discover how they, too, can change their own lives. The book provides a series of self-assessment quizzes and questionnaires, as well as concrete steps you can take to initiate change. Throughout, The Duchess offers her insights, including how each chapter topic relates to her life and what she has learned from others.

Reinventing Yourself with The Duchess of York supplies a blueprint for action for anyone seeking to change her life. In an easy-to-follow format, the book provides concrete information and advice on how to use an eight-step plan to achieve your goals -- whether it's losing weight, getting fit, or simply improving your health. Reinventing Yourself also explains how to apply the plan to other areas of life, including changing careers, starting over after divorce, and more.

To help inspire you toward your goals, Reinventing Yourself also includes heartwarming and motivating profiles of women who have redefined their lives: Weight Watchers Leaders, real women who have lost weight and transformed their lives in countless ways. In interviews with The Duchess and profiles throughout, these women explore how to make the best of your circumstances, live a happier, healthier life, and change your destiny.

2.0 out of 5 stars dejavu all over again!, January 13, 2001
By A Customer
Great book, but she loses stars for not coming up with anthing NEW or original. The concept is great, just not fair to attempt to portray these ideas as original from Sarah Ferguson! This book reminded me very much of another book, one who's central theme is self-improvement through self-motivation. The Duchess' new book talks of rewarding yourself for reaching small goals along the way. It gives verbatim examples such as a "manicure or massage"! This book talks of "self esteem building" and of "being your best friend". This book reminded me of'Awaken the Diet Within' that has been on the market for 2 years. Well, they say imitation is the highest form of flattery! If you enjoy this book, check out the other, you judge for yourself. Or check out the website for the original, there is a "Self Discovery Exercise", funny, Sarah's book has a "Self Exploration Exercise" section--even asking you to list qualities about yourself...

5.0 out of 5 stars Reinventing Yourself With The Duchess Of York, July 18, 2003
By "ladys1m" (West Bloomfield, Michigan United States) - See all my reviews
I've been on a roller coaster for years with different diets. This book is an excellent tool to take an inner journey as to who we are, and what we think the world sees us to be. It helps us to focus on the fact we have needs inward as well as outward. There are area to evaluate yourself privately and to help you use what you've learnt about you as tools to make losing weight, and being more happy with yourself. Excellent book! Losing weight is a life style change, not a diet. This book will help you to open your eyes more to your true needs.

3.0 out of 5 stars Light start to self improvement, July 6, 2001
By History Buff "owen11" (Chicago, IL USA) - See all my reviews
As far as self improvement books go, I suppose this one is also stating the obvious and what we already know. The writing isn't great, it's not terribly sophisticated, but that allows any level reader to understand its points.

I think her personal stories are a valuable asset and worth looking at. After all, if someone born into a title, and once married to a prince, can struggle with these life issues, certainly an "average" person can too - and overcome them.
