5.0 out of 5 stars A solid starter book to the Level 1 CFA exam, October 30, 2001
This book was very helpful in providing a 'warm-up' related to the business and financial concepts relevant to the Level 1 CFA exam.

The book is obviously not meant to replace the 'recommended readings' in the CFA program; however, the book does help a candidate transition into the recommended reading materials by providing a comprehensive high-level overview of concepts covered in Level 1 (accounting, economics, corporate finance, capital markets, portfolio theory, and quantitative methods) in a very easy and reader-friendly fashion.

This book can be a valuable read for a candidate just prior to diving into the recommended AIMR reading materials.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the effort to read, December 30, 2002
By T. Rugg (Sandy, Utah United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This book does a great job reviewing all the basics of business, accounting, finance and statistics at a beginner's level. The book is very easy to follow-especially if you have a little business background, but at the same time teaches you quite a bit in a short amount of time. It took me about 10 hours to read the entire book and work all the problems at a leisurely pace. If you are looking for a book that will fill in a lot of gaps in a short amount of time, I would definitley recommend this book as an introduction to your CFA level 1 studies.

4.0 out of 5 stars CFA pre level 1, January 31, 2006
As the book says. it is pre level 1. the book took me about 12 hours to absorb fully. I am a college senior and so far most of the things in this book is pretty much very general. It is worth your time to read this book before jumping into the CFA curriculum but not worth it to purchase this book. Go borrow it at the library.
