Editorial Reviews

From Booklist
While art dealer Afiya Terrell spends an idyllic vacation with her grandmother in Savannah, jewel thieves in Dakar, Senegal, use a hollowed-out space in the frame of a painting to smuggle their ill-gotten goods into the U.S. After Afiya sells the piece of art to one of her customers, the painting is stolen from the customer's house. Ibra Diop, head of a major art-brokerage firm in Dakar, since meeting Afiya briefly, hasn't been able to get her out of his mind, and has come to America. During their romantic tryst, the jewel thieves are doing their best to deflect suspicion away from them and directly on Ibra. With richly textured details and a leisurely pace, the third in Safaa's series featuring the Terrell sisters of Virginia (A Foreign Affair, 2005; Passionate Encounters, 2006) is sure to please fans of Francis Ray and Gwynne Forster. A fourth installment is planned. Shelley Mosley

Product Description
Passions ignite as an independent woman and an international playboy are thrown together in the search for a valuable jewel...

Everything upscale art gallery owner Afiya Terrell does has a distinctly Afrocentric flair. Her gallery is filled with the work of artists of African descent, and she often adorns herself with beautifully colored African garments. Though happily independent, Afiya would love to settle down and raise a family...but most men find her work and travel schedule to be too much to handle.

On a business trip to Ethiopia she meets Senegalese art dealer Ibra Diop¯and the sparks are undeniable. But attraction turns to outrage when she finds Ibra is perfectly happy being a single man. Thrown together in a desperate search for a precious jewel, they'll have to work together--and see if love can find a way . . .

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Love Story, February 22, 2008
This is the first book I have read by Safaa. I love romance books. She has now become one of my favorite authors. I am going to get the other two books about the Terell sisters, I am very interested in reading them. I also hope there will be a book about Kera, but I would like to know how the Diop's are doing with their new baby and what is going on with the unhappy mother in law. Is she trying to cause anymore trouble? Keep up the excellent work

3.0 out of 5 stars Love is a masterpiece, July 10, 2007
By The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers (RAWSISTAZ.com and BlackBookReviews.net) - See all my reviews
In the third book of the Terrell sister's series, author Chilufiya
Safaa introduces, art gallery owner Afiya Terrell. Afiya has an
afrocentric style that has helped her fill her gallery with the work
of various artists of African decent. Although she is happily
independent, she would love to settle down and raise a family.
Unfortunately, most men are intimidated by her. On a business trip
to Ethiopia, Afiya meets Senegalese art dealer Ibra Diop and the
attraction is instantaneous.

As head of a major art brokerage firm in Dakar, Ibra is accustomed
to getting what he wants, and he wants Afiya. She, on the other
hand, has no intention of being one of his many female companions.
Convinced that he is a womanizer, Afiya refuses to allow Ibra into
her heart. When Ibra plans a trip to America, the first stop on his
agenda is to see Afiya.

While vacationing at her grandmother's home in Savannah, jewel
thieves in Dakar, Senegal, use the frame of a painting to smuggle a
precious jewel into the United States. Afiya sells the piece of art
to one of her customers, the painting is stolen from the customer's
house, and Afiya fears Ibra may be involved. Their relationship is
put to the test as they search for the stolen jewel.

Chilufiya Safaa has written a love story that combines two cultures
and two settings. Unfortunately, the relationship between the main
characters lacked depth; I felt no connection to them. As the third
book in a series, I will have to assume that the previous books can
add insight to the stories of the Terrell sisters. Although THE ART
OF LOVE offers suspense and a multicultural perspective, it lacks
the most important ingredient of a love story--romance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Art Lover, May 5, 2007
Safaa has done it again. If you read "A Foreign Affair & Passionate Encounter" you will not be disappointed in "The Art of Love" this book is wondering. I could not put this book down! I read it over a weekend. I was so absorbed in it! It was so sweet and make me feel so proud to be an African-American woman. Each character is rich in detail. I look forward to the next novel. Safaa, job well done! Ibra is a DROP DEAD GOOD LOOKING MAN, and he loved him some Afiya. Those Terell sister are something else, when they guy fall they fall hard. Another thing I like is once the guys realize that are in love with those Terell sister they are unstoppable. THE LOVE SCENE ARE HOT..........You will enjoy them. Every time her book come I always go back and start from the beginning and this time will be no different. I will be reading AFA & EP again.

I am hoping Safaa will write about Kera (Ibra sister) & maybe Brad. Can't wait to see what she is going to do with Adana story.

Thanks
Louise
