Product Description
Puzzling secrets, eerie atmosphere, vicious murders, these surround the Nevada town of Eagleton, where Roni Mayfield is trapped, compelled to investigate the brutal slaughter of her mentor Caroline Holt. While rumored a suicide, Roni knows that Caroline's death is a result of sinister foul play. As a reporter who needs to investigate all happenings exhaustively and as a friend who demands revenge, she seeks to restore balance to the scales of justice. With only the rotting corpse, John Glazer, as an ally, Roni must evade the shadow-like murderer who follows her almost undetectably and get the answers she needs. What she doesn't know is that she has a larger mission: SURVIVE.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it!, April 3, 2009
From the very first sentence, the story grabbed hold of me and did not let go. I had a very hard time putting the book down. Thankfully the Text-to-Speech option was enabled for the Kindle edition, and so I had my Kindle "read" to me while I drove to and from work. The characters were so beautifully drawn, I felt like they were real people about whom I cared deeply. I also thought the plot was exceedingly well laid out, and the motivations of the characters were believable. The writing itself was terrific -- artful enough to be pretty, but without drawing attention to itself. This author is in command of the art, and this book is well-worth the read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Riveting. , July 1, 2007
By aaphilip "aaphilip" (Houston, TX United States) - See all my reviews
I am a reading intervention teacher for 1st-3rd graders. I read a lot. So far, my favorite book has been "Last To Die," by James Grippando. I rate it a 10 of 10, and have not read anything nearly comparable until "Night Passage." Wow. The author had me all throughout the story. At several points, I thought I finally had it figured out. Nope. I love a book that hooks me and makes me think. This is certainly one that I will recommend to others. I was soooo hooked, I finished it in six hours. It really was a fantastically crafted tale.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Book Rocks!, December 17, 2003
By Fred Rayworth (Las Vegas, NV United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Night Passage (Paperback)
This is the first story I read by Carol and it hooked me for life! I originally bought this book because I liked the cover and the blurb on the back sounded interesting. I was quite surprised at how good it was. From that point on, I searched high and low for her books and now have the complete set. The story gives the reader a good feel for what Nevada is really like when you get away from Las Vegas, especially with the many mining towns that are scattered throughout the state. Great characters, high suspense, and a plot that kept me guessing right until the end. This book is now out in electronic form and is well worth it if you cannot get the paperback. Highly recommended.
