"LONE STAR POLITICS compares favorably to other texts in terms of both the clarity of the writing style and the comprehensiveness of the content regarding the structures and process of Texas government. Few books cover the basic structures of government in such a comprehensive and straightforward way. Its pedagogy (particularly the Texas Mosaics and the Guest Essays) help connect the abstract discussion of the structure of Texas government to the actual workings of politics. When this book tells the history of some aspect of Texas politics, the historical details are as interesting and as balanced as any text I have seen on the subject."
