5.0 out of 5 stars Good read!, December 16, 2002
I picked up this book because of my uncontrolled love for BMW's, and as I expected it was unbelievable, a well put together book that described the history, automobiles, company and people that were and are involved to build these fine forms of transportation, cars of motorcycles alike, that we know today. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves cars (German cars in particular), and enjoys reading about automobile history and the formation of a global auto power. Pictures are plentiful and very clear.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have!, July 28, 2002
By A Customer
This book was a great read. It covers all the aspects of the BMW legacy. From the scramble after WWII to the explosion of the 2002 and the modern technical marvels that are here today. A must have for the BMW enthusiast.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent BMW history, November 9, 2006
By J. J. Noh (Berkeley, CA United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
The writing isn't exactly Shakespeare. There are occassional run-on
sentences, but the writing does not get in the way of the story.

Along with the story which is presented in as much detail as I can stand,
the author challenges BMW party line about widely accepted stories which
are too neat (such as the folklore concerning BMW's near demise in 1959).

Also, the author questions certain BMW claims such as the inherent
superiority of RWD over FWD (especially in light of the fact that BMW
tried more than once to develop a FWD car of its own).

In the end, I get the sense that I got a more balanced story than
regurgitated BMW doctrine.

The book is a lot more intelligent than most books about cars.

2.0 out of 5 stars Should have been named BMW company
The book is a good read if you are interested in the history of the BMW company, but it has very little information on the cars themselves. Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars BMW Table Book
This book is worth reading because it is not the usual company line that you often get from car-related books that are friendly to their subject. Read more
