5.0 out of 5 stars A Dead Good Compilation, December 2, 2006
By The Comtesse DeSpair (http://asylumeclectica.com) - See all my reviews
This book covers a broad range of obscure topics ranging from being buried alive to methods of embalming to rigor mortis. Filled with bizarre images, this one is a fascinating read from start to finish.

5.0 out of 5 stars Originally Published as The Bedside Book of Death, February 6, 2002
By Poop Snoot's Mom (East Haddam, CT USA) - See all my reviews
You won't feel "morbid" reading this! The writter makes the reader feel very comfortable, no stress-Just History. (And a lot of if) I enjoyed this book so much I bought another copy so my friends could read it and I wouldn't miss mine. Where to start....The writter begins with Buried Alive, goes over Body Snatchers,Mummification,Embalming,Cremation,Tombs,Suicide and the Fears of Planning your Own Funeral.
He surely puts the FUN back in Funeral, using humar where appropriate. You will absolutely feel more comfortable thinking about death and funerals after reading this fasinating book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Read, fear not!, October 25, 2002
By D. Klevorn (San Antonio, TX) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is the best book about death ever written. Not morbid, very natural yet factual! Give it as a gift! Originally it was published as The Bedside Book of Death..a much cuter name. This is a great book to start on in Death readings, and a good one for the younger set to help them understand, I mean, you know the teen set that thinks they'll live forever.

1.0 out of 5 stars Gossipy, too many apocryphal anecdotes, too many typos.
The author is much less interested in exploring interesting themes--the subtitle of the book is completely ignored--than in providing anecdote after anecdote. Read more
