From School Library Journal
Grade 6-10-Beginning with "18 Questions That Should Come First," such as "Is a Headache Really a Brainache?" this volume answers basic inquiries about the brain's structure and function in a lively, sometimes humorous way. The question-and-answer format will hold readers' interest. The layout is uncluttered and easy on the eyes. In spite of the lighthearted approach, Byrnie includes plenty of factual information and scientific background; she addresses topics such as the latest research on how drugs affect the brain, mental illness, epilepsy, and memory. Clear and helpful monochromatic diagrams punctuate the text, along with a few decorative black-and-white photos. A clear and lively addition that incorporates much of what scientists have learned about the brain in the last 10 years.
