From Library Journal
Grade 2-5-Ross, a veteran author of theme and holiday craft books, has come to the rescue of children and parents short on money but long on creativity. This do-it-yourself guide includes ideas and instructions for invitations, hats, decorations, cakes, favors, and games. Themes include outer space, rainbows, bugs, monsters, artists, dinosaurs, puzzles, firefighters, and Hawaii. The ideas, particularly the hats, will appeal to very young children, but they will need adult help. The text, however, is written for older children who have probably outgrown "Three Bears," "Puppet," "Dinosaur" or "Frog" parties. Aside from this discrepancy, the book is appealing. The illustrations are colorful and plentiful. The word "best" in the title may be a tad ambitious, but this is still a decent purchase to fill an often-requested need.
