A lot of mistakes..., January 8, 2009
This book has a lot of great info, and it is helpful in many ways, but there are a lot of mistakes in it:
page 17: "Deposit Gifts"
it says when you donate 10,000 bells you get the box of tissues, and 1,000,000 you get the piggy bank. at 10,000 you actually get the shopping card, then at 100,000 you get the tissues. at 1,000,000 you get a GOLD shopping card, and at 10,000,000 you get the piggy bank.
on page 135 it shows several models (house models and town hall) and they say they are spotlight items available from Nook's for 1,800 bells. these models are NOT for sale, the houses you get through HRA points and the town hall model you get after you've had a town for one year.
page 161: the new year's shirt 2011 is pictured as the alternate "Frog shirt" which is actually a regular shirt you buy at able sisters. the new year shirt should be of a bunny, as they are based on the chinese zodiac animals
there are a few more, but these ones really threw me off. If you're like me, you depend on this book for information, especially when it comes to what items you can and can not sell.
I also don't understand why the guides never have hybrid guides or hairstyle guides. I think everyone would appreciate having that info too.

Huge help!, November 20, 2008
I ordered this on the same day I ordered my AC:CF. It's been a huge help. While there is basically not a lot of huge changes in CF from WW, the book shows all the furniture types (and how they look layed out in a room), all the bugs, fish, fossils, gyroids, pictures, clothes etc. It also shows you how to get things like the silver and gold tools, how much you need to donate to get certain items, which visitors give you what, and how to get them, etc.
There is 2 full pages dedicated to each month to show what fish/bugs are available at that time, which holidays there are and even who's birthday it is.
This book is absolutely recommended to the AC:CF players...especially if this is the first time they've played.

Not what I would expect from a game "guide", February 8, 2009
Animal Crossing: City Folk: Prima Official Game Guide (Prima Official Game Guides)
I played Animal Crossing a few years back when it was released for the Game Cube. It was a fun distraction that my partner and roommate spent a lot of time on. So when I heard it was being released for the Wii, with added features, I was kind of excited.
After ordering the guide, and while waiting for its arrival, I made my town, and jumped right in... for any "important" tips I needed, I checked online Wiki's. I discovered that there is a pattern to the questions Rover (the Cat on the bus) asks you, which would determine what style of face your character gets... after the fact, of course. So I deleted myself, and made my character over.
Then after a few days, the "guide" arrived... It's a cute book... and it does have some good information... but nothing really important other than the lists of items, accessories... insects and fish.
The really "important" things.. like the question pattern for your character creation... not there. The question pattern from the Poodle in the City to change your hairstyle... not there. The fact that if you speak to the Pigeon in the cafe over the course of a week (once a day for seven days) he will offer to store your gyroids for you.)
It was also online that I read that the guide has many mistakes in it. I am not sure exactly how many mistakes, or what all they are... But I do know that the Town Fund amounts are not accurate. By going by what they have listed, you end up losing hundreds of thousands of Bells...
So, I've been using the book as a sort of catalog. To keep track of items that I've found so that I can refer to it, instead of seeing Nook any time I need to check my inventory.
If you are completely new to Animal Crossing... this may be of some use to you. If you have played either the GC or the DS version... and have an idea of what the game play is like.. and what is expected of you as a resident... skip this. For any real information... hints... face/character creation guides... etc, I'd stick to online wiki's, http://accf.wikispaces.com/ is a good one. They are free. They are more accurate. And they have people that list the friend codes, so you have a better chance of making friends and expanding your game play that route.
I hope this review is helpful.
