Editorial Reviews

Product Description
The Man Without a Hobby is the memoir of Tibor Machan, a first generation refugee who escaped both a political and a personal tyranny early in his life and embarked upon a search for an understanding of what it means to live freely and wisely. The book is a record of the main events and some interesting tidbits of his life. Detailed are Professor Machan's reflections, interpretations, and lamentations of his riskiest judgments and noteworthy achievements.

5.0 out of 5 stars An intellectual "tell all", January 26, 2005
By Jack Criss (Brandon, MS) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Tibor Machan has been one of the most prolific writers in the libertarian world for years. His voluminous pace has led to some masterpieces ("Individuals and Their Rights", "Human Rights and Human Liberties") as well as more general works that are niche-oriented. With his latest, an intellectual autobiography, Machan candidly takes the reader behind the scenes, as it were, giving us insight into, not only his own fascinating life, but also the lives of some of the late 20th Century's greatest and most controversial thinkers. A very enjoyable read and a very different approach from a man who has earned his own spot as one of the great thinkers of our era. Job well done!
