Review

"...enough action to guarentee interest. The author provides plenty of authenticity for his story of the land down under." -- Christian Library Journal, Fall 2000

Product Description

Another Aussie Adventure!

Travel to the other side of the world for a new thrilling adventure with Patrick McWaid and his friends as they meet the feared bunyip—half man, half monster!

The exciting youth series ADVENTURES DOWN UNDER is set in the wild landscape of the Australian Outback during the 1860’s. Each story in the series combines an exhilarating tale that you won’t be able to put down with a strong message of God’s love that you won’t be able to forget. Unparalleled for hair-raising thrills, the series will become one of your favorites and Robert Elmer, a favorite author.

In Firestorm at Kookaburra Station, Patrick and Michael find themselves in trouble right from the start. Riding on an escaped hot air balloon without an experienced pilot, the boys seem headed for disaster. Worse yet, while floating above the ground they spy what seems to be a bunyip—a half-man, half-monster from Aborigine legend. The balloon seems headed right at the creature’s hiding place and a firestorm is heading in from the other direction. The boys will need to use all their wits and faith to escape this predicament!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sure, read it. Buy the whole series, January 1, 2001
This is a great book for people of all ages to read. It's fun, exciting, and you learn about the Land Down Under. It also has great morals. I've read it, and found it very enjoyable. We have the whole series, and aren't disapointed with our purchase. Patrick's little brother Michael hides in a hot air balloon. When the ropes break loose, the balloon goes off, and Michael's caught in! Patrick gets jerked off his feet when one of the ropes catches on his arm. He ends up also in the balloon with Michael, and the balloon's pilot, who is a chattery know it all who fancies himself the world's greatest balloonist. The ballon makes a crash landing and a big man with a large, scarred face rescues them. When he takes them back to town, men make fun of the man. ONe even predicts he will be a criminal. Back on their boat, the Lady Elizabeth, Jefferson, who was going to bring them their wool, says the people at Kookaburra station are behind and.....he promised they would help out! So they all go to Kookaburra station to help with the wool. It turns out that is where the big man lives! They become friends, but the big man never speaks. Then there's a fire, and at the end of the fire, Patrick makes a confession to the man, called Ibrahim, and finds out why he never speaks.
