4.0 out of 5 stars Yet Another 'Dummy Book' To The Rescue!, June 23, 2009

Firstly, I have to say that these Dummy Books really WORK.
Yes, you kinda look like ID10T holding one, but the payoff is you *do* feel smarter afterwords.
What sold me on the Dummy Books is that a place that employed my Computer Gurus had these books on a shelf above the workbench.
I figured that if *my* Computer Gurus used Dummy Books, they must be good.....and they are!
If you're in need of a How-To manual that's Simple, Organised, To-The-Point, and a little humour thrown in.....Dummy Books fit the bill.

Now onto the review proper.
I had a Linux (FYI: Fedora 8) box built to use as a media center, and my Linux Guru installed KDE.
The embedded help only goes so far.....I needed a Dead Tree Manual to help me along.
Since I was able to teach myself HTML from a Dummy Book.....Why not a Dummy Book to bring myself up to speed on KDE?
As always, the Dummy Books never fail to deliver.
This book's well organised and thought out.
I like the friendly writing style.
I find it easy going and casual, far better to learn and educate oneself than something that's written that sounds like some some bored professor with tenure in some huge lecture hall

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad., April 1, 2000
Good for linux admins that couldn't get kde documentation in some of the other books. Get this and a gnome book and you are ready to go.
