5.0 out of 5 stars Great depth, yet easy to read and use, May 2, 2001
Web Design for Dummies packs an impressive amount of information in an easy-to-use format. The ample screen shots show you what to do, while the many tip/warning icons provide time-saving ideas.

But what I like best about it is that overall it helps break down the *process* of designing web sites. That way, you can see how the pros construct great sites, using a realistic workflow. It helps you focus on designing sites one piece at a time, which is quite empowering.

Whether you are simply browsing for ideas or you are working through a chapter in depth, this book will not disappoint!

4.0 out of 5 stars Too Many for Me, January 22, 2006
By Richard Wirtz "Dick" (Knoxville, TN USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Most of the Dummies books I know of are pitched to the ordinary joe. I bought this book assuming that it would be too, so it would help me design my own web page. Not so. This is for people who want to make a career out of designing web pages. It assumes that you will be part of a team that includes marketing people, designers (in addition to you), media specialists, "HTML slingers," programmers, and a producer to pull the team together and bring the project in on time and on budget.

Well, okay. If you are the person it's written for, I suspect that you would give it five stars, like the other reviewers. Even with the disconnect, I got so much out of parts of it that I'll give it four. I will bet, however, that if your ambitions are as modest as mine are, there are other, better books.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected., February 26, 2006
This book was very informative, but not what I expected. It isn't for the regular person wanting to learn how to design their own website, it is for professionals wanting to get into the business of designing web sites.
