Product Description
You'll never fall into the tourist traps when you travel with Frommer's. It's like having a friend show you around, taking you to the places locals like best. Our expert authors have already gone everywhere you might go -- they've done the legwork for you, and they're not afraid to tell it like it is, saving you time and money. No other series offers candid reviews of so many hotels and restaurants in all price ranges. Every Frommer's Travel Guide is up-to-date, with exact prices for everything, dozens of color maps, and exciting coverage of sports, shopping, and nightlife. You'd be lost without us!

Completely updated every year (unlike most of the competition), Frommer's Cancún, Cozumel & the Yucatán features gorgeous color photos of the stunning beaches, the colorful underwater world, and the mysterious Maya ruins that await you. This authoritative guide captures all the glitter of Cancún, as well as the more rustic and authentic charms of Cozumel, which boasts world-class diving and snorkeling in the turquoise waters of the Caribbean. The authors have lived in and written about Mexico for years, so they're able to provide candid reviews of all the beach resorts, the best local dining, and the latest, hottest nightlife.

Beyond the major resort areas, we'll show you sleepy beachfront towns, sea turtle preserves, and fascinating inland towns where you can bargain in local markets. You'll travel Mexico like a pro with our candid advice and handy Spanish-language glossary. Also included are accurate regional and town maps (including site plans of the major ruins), up-to-date advice on finding the best package deals, a color fold-out map, and an online directory that makes trip-planning a snap!

Another helpful guide for your trip is Frommer's Mexico.

5.0 out of 5 stars You MUST have this book in Yucatan, June 6, 2001
I have travelled many places and bought books from DK, Lonely Planet and National Geographic. I didn't trust Frommer's books because I thought the company only provides information for people who do not travel. I was wrong. After I read and carried this book with my trip to Yucatan, I found this is the best travel book I have had in terms of its practical use.

First of all, the rating is wonderful. I usually didn't trust the rating so I did my own exploration. We happened to had some restaurants for whom the authors gave 5 stars and we found they are really good. Then we decided to follow their ratings and it really saved a lot of time we have never been disappointed.

Second, although the book can be put into a pocket, the information is not only complete but detailed. It even mentioned how firm the mattresses of a hotel's is, how a BB's rooms and spaces are designed, what dishes are good and how good are the settings in some restaurants, etc. The information is so superb that I truly believe the authors have personally tried the restaurants and hotels by themselves.

The authors also provide a useful map, good references. The book also provides a lot of good suggestions so I can save my time, explore some places not many people know, and plan my trip wisely. We went to Progresso and watched flamingo for free and tasted delicious mamey sorbet in Merida - all suggested by the authors.

I also bought another Yucatan travel book and I found that one is useless althought it has average 4 or 5 stars here.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very up to date!, October 16, 2000
Just back from 3 weeks in Cancune and Cozemel, I had three guide books with me and this was the most up to date. Took me to some places I do not think I would have found on my own, and these were places that made my whole trip. The maps are good and easy to follow. The grading system for Hotels and resturants I found very reliable.

4.0 out of 5 stars As good as any of the guide books, June 9, 2004
I spent the last three weeks in the Yucatan (and I had a wonderful time!), and found this to be a reliable guide. The rating system is dependable, the maps helpful, and for the most part the info is up to date. I will say this, you might concidering more than one guide book as all of them seem to have some defficincies. This would be most important for the independent travler and the travler who is planning to get away from the major resorts. You might also consider buying good maps.
