Editorial Reviews

Review

"This book is solid. It does an excellent job in covering HazMat, which has been neglected for far too long. It also

covers the standard at a good depth, not too complicated but not superficial either. The book is formatted well, easy

to read, and the street-smart tips are very beneficial." – Attila Hertelendy, Instructor, University of Nevada,

Fire Science Academy, Carlin, NV --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

Product Description

Firefighter's Handbook: Essentials of Firefighting and Emergency Response is the newest full-color, comprehensive book detailing the job of today's firefighter. Beginning with the basic requirements of Firefighter I + II, and including extensive information on subjects such as Hazardous Materials and Terrorism, this is the most up-to-date and relevant book on the market. It was written by a variety of experts with many years of practical as well as training experience. The all-in-one format of the book provides a new alternative to using several different manuals to train students for the Firefighter I + II and Hazardous Materials Operations levels. Clear and consistent coverage throughout the book will make this resource a must-have for every firefighter!(Keywords: Firefighting)

5.0 out of 5 stars Firefighters Handbook:Essentials of Firefighting and Emergen, February 21, 2000
This book is much better than the IFSTA Essentials Manual. It does a better job on all the topics and also includes responses to Haz Mat and WMD incidents. No need to purchase another book. Excellent!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a well thought out book, March 26, 2000

This is a great improvement over the standard Essentials of Firefighting put out by IFSTA. The writing is better, the graphics are outstanding and there is great background information on each subject.
If you just want a textbook, purchase the IFSTA book. If you are interested in really reading and grasping the essentials then purchase this encyclopedia of knowledge and insight.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great handbook, March 5, 2007
By N. Wood (Fairbanks AK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is a great resource for firefighters. I went through the fire academy and spent the past few years using IFSTA Essentials to study with. I found the Firefighter's Handbook to be much more entertaining and enlightening. The chapters read alot easier and seem to be written for firefighters rather than students. It's loaded with more fire service history and many more tips and tricks of the trade than essentials. Highly recommend it.
