Product Description

The history of the most recognizable handgun in the world. In 1900, a German arms company introduced the "Pistole Parabellum" (Pistol for War). But in the United States, the sidearm came to be known simply by the name of its inventor--the Luger. Issued by the German Army in WWI, post-war hit men favored it with a silencer.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Luger Pistol-100 yrs and going STRONG, October 27, 2000
By Ted Green (Rio Rancho, NM United States) - See all my reviews
This is a great documentary of the history of the Luger pistol from its inception around the turn of the century in 1900 to the present. Illustrated history of a great gun used by many countries and revered more than any pistol in history by collectors. From the early test trials with the US Army, through footage of its unique and extremely fast toggle action, and describing some of the many, many variations of this fine gun, to firing a Million dollar one of a kind Luger, to modern production still on going of this classic firearm, ultimately to the world reknown Luger dealer Ralph Shattuck. This segment of the Tales of the Gun shows a brief glimse into the history and use of this fasinating pistol. The shooting sequences are amazing. Good enough for the German Army, Airforce, and Navy, this fantasic marvel of German Engineering still amazes many even today! Segments of information from Fred Datig, Charlie Kenyon, Michael Krause, Garry James and Ralph Shattuck all reknown experts are included. Terrific History Documentation of the first order!
